Warner Bros. has finally released the first trailer for Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson – and suffice it to say, it was worth the wait.
the long awaited superhero movie, which is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 21, will follow the titular DC Comics anti-hero as he fights to defeat the Justice Society of America (or JSA). Check out the trailer above.
Johnson stars as Black Adam, Shazam’s nemesis, in the upcoming film, though the latter character (played by Zachary Levi in the 2019 eponymous film) does not appear in DC’s latest action romp. The Jumanji star will join Pierce Brosnan (Doctor Fate), Noah Centineo (Atom Smasher) and Aldis Hodge (Hawkman).
Jaume Collet-Serra, the director responsible for several thrillers led by Liam Neeson, including Unknown, Non-Stop, Run All Night and The Commuter, is directing the project – and the filmmaker’s frenetic style is easy to see in the first official trailer for Black Adam.
The DC movie has been the subject of development for nearly half a decade, and Johnson himself first expressed interest in playing the brawny superhero back in 2014.
As mentioned, Black Adam is set to hit theaters on October 21st, though the film makes a quick transition to HBO Max after a 45-day theatrical run.
