New trailers for Shazam! 2 and Black Adam, but Warner Bros disappoints fans at SDCC 2022

Posted on July 23, 2022July 23, 2022 by Admin

Warner Bros’ panel at San Diego Comic Con took place earlier today (July 23) and while fans were treated to new looks from Black Adam and Shazam! continuation Shazam! Fury Of The Gods, the panel was light on everything else.

Reports surfaced during the week that Henry Cavill was scheduled to make a panel appearance to finally offer some clarity on his role as Superman, but there was no sign of the Man of Steel during the show, which stuck rigidly to Black’s revelations. Adam and Shazam! sequel.

Aside from the lack of Superman, the panel also didn’t offer any updates on the long-delayed blockbuster The Flash, or the Aquaman sequel, or the third installment of Wonder Woman, or the sequel to The Batman, or even any snippets of information about Batgirl or the recently announced Static Shock movie.

To be fair, The Flash, Aquaman, and Batman all made short appearances, but only with the use of old footage in the first trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which you can see below:

The real highlight of the panel was the reveal of the Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which will be with us in December.

It has been confirmed by star Zachary Levi that the new film will be set two years after the first film. Fans also got a look at the film’s villains, The Daughter of Atlas, who will be played by Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler. Levi also teased the possibility of a third film, if audiences are up for it, telling fans, “If you’re going to see it, I’m sure the bosses will want to make another one.”

Shazam! then gave way to Black Adam, with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and director Jaume Collet-Serra taking the stage to present a new short trailer for the dark new addition to the DC Movie universe.

Speaking about the role, Johnson told the crowd that it was a long journey to get to the movie. He said (via Term): “It was a long journey full of passion and courage to push black adam together — more than 10 years have passed. To be here at Comic-Con, Hall H, representing a DC hero, an anti-hero, is a dream come true. When I started 20 years ago, many moons ago, I would bring movies here and hope that people would love it. How can we create something new and unique… show and create something that has never been done before? My goal is to usher in a new era in the DC universe. What is it like building the DC universe with the Justice Society as well?”

In addition to the new trailer, which you can see below, it has also been confirmed that Black Adam will feature Viola Davis, who will bring Amanda Waller, a character she played in both iterations of Suicide Squad, to the film.

Later tonight, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige will reveal new plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ll be live blogging the event, so keep an eye on for all the details.
