Recently one was watching the webseries the broken news, which began broadcasting on the Zee5 platform from last month (June). One found the series well-made and engaging. The performances of Sonali Bendre, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Jaideep Ahlawat in this series, which is about the politics and machinations that are present in top-notch TV news channels, was consistently top-notch. The story, as it unfolds, is realistic, even though it has the elements that create dramas in these parts. One found it a must-watch.
But when checking social media platforms, there was almost no buzz for such a series. While reviews were mostly positive, on social media platforms, which is where a web series draws its credibility and influence, word of mouth praise was far and few among them. A series like Suzhal – The Vortex got its strength from glowing accolades on social media platforms.
At the event, he kept thinking about the webseries that weren’t all they noticed, even though they were well done and interesting.
One made a list of five web series, all in the thriller and thriller genre, that feel a bit underrated and worth watching. Please note that this is a subjective list and has been compiled based on what has been seen on social media platforms.
The list is: Tabbar, Enamel, The Raikar Case, Face and the final call.
Tab Bar (2021)
It is an unwritten rule among web series creators that Pawan Malhotra must be cast as a Sardar. But you can’t blame them, as Pawan played his character. tab bar is a good example of this. In this thriller, which is also a heartbreaking family story, he plays a protective father who does everything he can to save his wife and children. In fact, he goes a step further than Drishyam’s Georgekutty. This web series is also steeped in the Punjabi spirit and fervor that is not often seen on our screens.
Nail Polish (2021)
This is the most intriguing kind of cat and mouse thriller. The suspense lasts until the end — even after you’ve stopped watching the series. The series deals with sex crime in a way that might shake you — psychologically speaking. Is it the mind or the body that commits the crime? It’s not exactly an issue the courts can handle. But that’s what you have to face in this series that had a remarkable performance from Manav Kaul, Arjun Rampal and Anand Tiwari. The series shows a great deal of insight into what makes a warped mind.
The Raikar Case (2020)
It’s an uncomplicated murder mystery that ticks all the boxes in the genre nicely. The story revolves around the Raikar family and the series begins with the youngest descendant of the family being found dead. The initial belief is that it is a suicide. But it is soon established as a murder. But who could have killed him? Well, every surviving member of the great family is. As each episode brings out a hidden side of their personalities and their relationship. There’s a bit of Agatha Christie’s bestseller in the way the story unfolds. The Final Call (2019)
Imagine being on a flight piloted by someone who is determined to commit suicide. No wait, he might be on an assassination mission. A pilot, who has trouble living through a troubled past with the Indian Air Force, and a bunch of passengers who have some intriguing connection, find themselves on the same flight that could be their last. This low-key thriller is inspired by the book I Will Go with You: The Flight of a Lifetime. The series also questions the idea of death and mortality, a bit new for a series of this type.
This is a detective drama that also brings out a rare slice of humor from life. The story is about an investigator who is solving his last case and why it is his last case. Dude is an acronym for Detective Umesh Dhamija, the father of the protagonist of this series. The plot also runs parallel to the investigator’s professional and private life.
